Improving Children’s Safety | The Schools Engagement Programme

The Council has embarked upon a programme to improve child safety across the Borough

The schools engagement programme is about improving child safety, addressing health concerns, implementing public realm and environmental improvements and encouraging active travel through co-production with the school community and local residents.

An initial phase has assessed and ranked schools by risk taking into account multiple factors such as air quality, age of pupils, modes of transport and safety.

The first four schools have been identified and engagement with those schools has started to explore the best options for them. These will then be presented to the local communities for any appropriate refinements.

The council is actively engaged with the West London Free School, during their redevelopment, to explore improving child safety whilst minimising disruption to the neighbourhood.

We will aim to keep you informed as discussions progress and ideas start to take shape.
