Continuing our campaign the clean-up Lyric Square, we held a meeting with Greg Smith Deputy Council Leader and Cabinet Member for Residents Services and senior Council Officials.
We were told that the long-term option to replace the stained, porous York Stone is dependent on funding being available. In the short term, the results of cooking by market stalls holders could be lessened by using better floor covering on market days.
Equally there was the possibility of restricting use to stall holders who did affect the surface. The Council undertook to hold a meeting in January to discuss the state of the square and consider ideas and views put forward by BRA and report back.
