Residents can win up to £500 cash through an innovative scheme promoting cleaner streets and better recycling on H&F’s estates.
The Hammersmith & Fulham Estates Recycling Challenge launched this month and runs until 31 March. Through the challenge, residents are encouraged to recycle more and report dumped rubbish to win prizes for themselves and their community.
To make the competition more interesting, the borough will be divided into four zones which will compete against one another for top honours as the cleanest community in H&F.
Waste from the four different zones, Hammersmith North, Hammersmith South, Fulham North and Fulham South, will be weighed throughout the duration of the challenge and those communities where there has been a clear increase in recycling output will earn ‘green points’.
The zone with the most points by 31 March will win the top prize of £500 to donate to a local charity project.
There are 9,000 households included in the competition across 37 H&F estates which are being targeted in an attempt to boost borough recycling rates, reduce recycling contamination levels and stamp out dumping of rubbish.
