Have you ever noticed there’s a certain energy and enthusiasm from people in H&F? That could be because the borough has been named in a recent study as Great Britain’s hot spot for extroverts.
The study by researchers at the University of Cambridge, recently published in the journal Plos One, studied the personality traits of almost 400,000 Brits, with Londoners revealed as being the most open, and H&F getting the highest score for people with extrovert personalities.
“In Hammersmith & Fulham we’re lucky to have a rich tapestry of residents from every walk of life and this fantastic diversity clearly contributes to the high levels of outgoing, vibrant and happy people shown in the study,” said H&F Council Interim Chief Executive, Nigel Pallace.
The study stated that extroverts ‘tend to be more assertive, energetic, enthusiastic and sociable’ and added that previous research linked extraversion with leadership qualities, occupational performance and better health and wellbeing.
The research took a pool of just under 400,000 people from England, Scotland and Wales and analysed the results, looking specifically at five different personality traits: extraversion, agreeableness, conscientiousness, emotional stability and openness.
