Flood Action Plan for Brackenbury

James Leaney and Edward Flaherty, Flood Engagement Officers with the National Flood Forum arranged a very productive first meeting on 31st July for Brackenbury residents at the Grove Neighbourhood Centre (GNC) with mainly people who had been flooded. Approximately 20 people attended.
There is a further meeting planned for 9th September with the aim of establishing a community flood action group for the area. At the next meeting, their objective is to move into more strategic discussions,
begin to formulate a Flood Action Plan for Brackenbury and start preparing to meet with the risk management authorities, compiling a list of questions for them to answer.
Their size limit for Flood Action Groups is, they say (based on experience and observed effectiveness in
focusing efforts), no more than 10 people. It is then part of the Flood Action Groups role to engage and consult with their wider community as their actions progress.
At the next meeting, they will try to get confirmation of who is able to volunteer their time and effort going forward, and some people may prefer just to be updated and consulted where possible. If it then becomes apparent from this initial group that they are short on numbers, they would publicise it further and try to get more people interested.
However, if you missed the first meeting and would like to catch up and potentially get more involved please contact them .

If you feel that Thames Water have badly let people down and they should be held more to account and offer greater compensation, then please look at the consultation site and respond. The more people who do so the more likely the government will follow this through.
