A new programme tackling childhood obesity in Hammersmith & Fulham is the first in the UK to team up with schemes across Europe to fight this growing problem.
H&F’s Tackling Childhood Obesity (TCOT) programme has been accepted into the European branch of the prestigious EPODE International Network (EIN), which shares knowledge among schools, family and public authorities who are working to fight childhood obesity in their areas.
Help available for residents via H&F’s TCOT programme includes:
- Healthy lifestyle services for schoolchildren, new mums, schools, children’s centres and nurseries.
- Work with local authority and external partners in each borough to explore and implement a broad range of activities.
EPODE (Ensemble Prévenons l’Obésité Des Enfants) means ‘Together, let’s prevent childhood obesity’ and originated in France.
H&F’s TCOT programme was developed using learning from successful interventions that have been introduced across the world and in particular the EPODE model.
