The Department for Transport were at the Town Hall on Monday 6 March presenting draft proposals for the National Policy Statement for the additional runway proposed at Heathrow. The Statement sets out the principles and performance requirements which Heathrow must satisfy before planning permission might be allowed. When Heathrow submit their planning application, it will be assessed by the Planning Inspectorate. If allowed, the runway would increase Heathrow capacity by 50%, adding a staggering 230,000 annual air traffic movements to the current 470,000 movements. Our profound opposition in Hammersmith is being championed by handfnothirdrunway.org.
